The Empatica Health Monitoring Platform is an FDA-cleared modular remote health monitoring platform that provides a full-stack product suite to healthcare and research professionals. The Platform features two different plans: Academic & Basic Research or enterprise
The two plans differ and are attributed to studies based on their size and nature. These plans are not a tiered subscription selection.
Academic & Basic Research
Designed with smaller research studies in mind. For example, an academic study that does not require dedicated Account Manager support.

Available for large-scale clinical trials, with a wide range of dedicated services through Empatica. For example, a clinical trial that requires one-on-one support with IRB submissions, audit trails, and custom materials for global studies. Portal Features:
The Empatica Health Monitoring Platform includes a secure online portal, called the Care Lab Portal, which allows research staff members to manage and monitor their study and participants.
Once your purchase is complete, your platform subscription is automatically activated during the shipment of your device(s); no separate license activation step is required. To start using the Platform, simply create your own Care Lab Portal account, which comes with 1 Study, 1 Site, and up to 1000 participants. You will also have the option to view multiple digital biomarker visualization graphs.

Data Services:
EmbracePlus and EmbraceMini have powerful onboard sensors designed to collect quality raw data and digital biomarkers. Through the Empatica Health Monitoring Platform, you have access to download both your raw high-frequency data and digital biomarkers.
You will gain access to our standard suite of raw data and digital biomarkers, which are based on the device and on the sensor mode selected during the study configuration.
Note: Studies created before September 16th, 2026 run the Pulse Rate Pro Sensor Mode by default.

Academic & Basic Research
Can be purchased directly through our Online Store, or through our Sales Team.
Each device is purchased as a package that includes the device and its platform subscription. When the subscription is near its expiry date, or has already expired, it can be extended by one year at a time, for each device.

To extend the platform subscription for one or more of your devices, get in touch with our team.
We strongly advise against purchasing devices through unauthorized resellers, online marketplaces, or second-hand. These might not support the Empatica Health Monitoring Platform, and might be tied to a specific study, or might not have an associated plan.
Platform subscriptions are only sold together with a device purchased from Empatica, and can only be extended for those devices. A subscription cannot be purchased on its own for a device obtained from any other source.
